How to Humble Ourselves Under the Mighty Hand of God

Most of us think that if we would go to God with respect, fear and honor that is humbling ourselves before Him. Although these things are good to do but it is not humbling ourselves according to 1st Peter 5:6-7 which reads therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time casting all your care upon Him for He cares for you.

To humble ourselves unto God means to cast all of our cares upon Him. If we try to work out our own problems this is being proud and God resist the proud. I can attest to that because at one time I was that way, although I did not mean to be, it was out of ignorance of His word that I was that way. I went as far as to say, I am going to do this but if I get into trouble God will get me out of it. I was too ignorant to see that nothing I did prevailed. Finally, there came a time when the Lord allowed me to go through a very difficult time. It was the worst time of my life but it was also the best because I learned to follow the Lord. Instead of doing things my way, I learned to wait for His instructions.

When we get ahead of God, He considers that being proud and He will resist us but when we give Him all of our cares, which is humility, He will exalt us.

Casting means to throw and to throw means to get rid of quickly. God want us to quickly, cast our cares upon Him. He does not want us to bring them to Him because if we bring it to Him we could have opportunity to reconsider giving it to Him and this is not His will.

What happens to us when we cast our cares upon Him? There will be a sudden peace inside of us. If we do not feel that peace, then we really have not cast that care. The inside peace is our evidence that we have cast our cares upon Him. It is as if receiving a receipt at the check out counter indicating what we have done is accepted.

Those things that bother us will no longer trouble us when they are cast upon the Lord. They may not be resolved as seen through the naked eye but on the inside of us, they are resolved because the Great I Am now has them and there are no problems with Him. He is sufficient and nothing is too hard for Him to handle.

God cares for us because we are His beloved and His personal concern. He watches over us to make our way prosperous by rebuking the enemy for our sakes. The word says no evil shall befall us and the reason for that is that He watches over us and will protect us against it.
